Starting a Side Quest

If I don’t start, I won’t ever so welcome to my blog! Me and my wife had quite the year with more exciting changes in our future. I am just narcissistic enough, that I wanted to share it with the world. I can’t really describe why, but I have this drive to share. Since I am not a fan of modern social media, I chose to self publish.

I want to become a writer, well a much better writer than I am now. I have always wanted to write/illustrate a children's book, write a novel, and really give my blog/journal a fair chance. We recently settled in our new home in Colorado. Being separated from all of my family has been an interesting transition, and the reason I have felt the need to create. I am no longer down the street, I am down the state. I still have the urge to share everything with everyone I know, but on my terms and only if someone wants to check my site. I feel like social media is breaking everyone’s minds, they are all just frogs in the pot, but it’s almost too late.

I started by journalling at least 5 days a week, for no more than 10 minutes. I genuinely struggled to create this habit. I have failed so many times over the years, that I wasn’t sure if I could get this to stick. I pushed through and we seem to be on the down and out. The web of habits I have is getting more complex, but in some ways much simpler. I thought it was my motivation, or perhaps I need to brute force the habit of daily writing. In the end, I need to write. I need to take photos, I need to create, I need to get ideas out of my head and out into the world. I am an artist, and my view is absolutely valid. I want to share my creations with my herd. I long for so many of the things that modern social media promises, but has failed us all. I want a community that genuinely cares for me and each other.

As for content, I will try to stick to my life, photography, video, gear, and other musings. I want to keep this fun for me, but also consistent for everyone. One day I would like to transition to a full time creator so that I can dedicate more time to making. I am still head scratching about what value I want to bring to everyone. I also want to make it clear that everything that I create, is without AI or very very very minimal. I write everything from my head, and a human edits it. You get warts and all everyone!! All photography, graphics, video, and typography is my own. We gunna make some art!
