Welcome to my
life with cameras
Throughout my life, I've had a deep connection with cameras. I've owned many, and while I still cherish some, others are memories I've had to let go. My journey began with film, but I swiftly embraced the world of digital photography, which has since become my sole focus. A special bond with video has always been there too, nurtured by my wonderful dad who introduced me to cameras from Minolta and Sony. It's fitting that I continue this legacy with Sony. Photography and videography have captivated me since childhood; there’s something inherently motivating about documenting life's moments. I find myself driven by the desire to create a fulfilling and exciting life, capturing each step of the journey along the way.
Pocket Camera 110 Film Camera with Normal and Telephoto Lens
The Compact Marvel
This is the first camera that I remember using. I was probably around age 11 when I got this. It was designed to use the ultra-convenient 110 cartridge film format. Its slim design and dual-lens functionality made it a perfect introduction to learning what photography really is. The ability to switch between a normal and telephoto lens unlocked new perspectives for capturing the world, even with its compact form. It became a gateway, igniting a deeper interest in photography.
Dual-Lens Adventure
The standout feature of this camera was its dual-lens system, allowing for quick toggling between normal and telephoto modes. The normal lens was perfect for capturing scenes at about 5 feet away, while the telephoto lens gave me the reach to frame distant subjects at around 10 feet. Combined with its fixed-focus design and an aperture of f/11, the simplicity of the Pocket Camera made it easy to carry around and shoot on the go. The built-in flash, powered by two AA batteries, let me take photos in low-light situations, making it a true all-rounder for its size.
A Gateway to Film Photography
This camera marked a significant point in my photographic journey. It was pocket-sized yet packed with features that made me feel capable of capturing more intentional shots. From experimenting with its telephoto capabilities to simply enjoying its portability, this camera was a key stepping stone in my evolution as a photographer.I no longer have this camera in my possession, but this camera will always hold a special place in my timeline as the device that encouraged me to look at the world in new ways.
